Hi these are excellent ideas. I am the mother of two teen girls. We have actually done the limo thing, scavanger hunt, and Luau. I would also like to suggest a Karaoke Party. We did a Karaoke competition/Birthday party for my daughters 13th party, it was co-ed with about 20 kids and we all had a blast!! My daughter said that was her best birthday by far.

im a teen and most of the theme parties are weird and are not good for teens but actually for 5 year olds. -Scavenger hunt, luau, tie dye, grown up party... give me a break. - limo & sports are decent though. - i think you still need to realize we are MUCH more grown op than that. - and i am only 13. think about what older teens think!

You can rent a room at a motel that has a swimming pool so you can change into the swimming suits and then swim as long as you want

my neibor had a luau party- what she did was she set up tents in the backyard, and had a pergector screen and watched a movie-she also did some obstycle coarses with pinaple eating and hula dancing-i wasn't invited but it looked fun!!!

A party based on the new "Twilight" books would be amazing! There are so many things that you could do with that theme. You could have people dress up as the characters, or play the Vampire game late at night. Whatever you want to do with your party, it would be a great idea!

an idea that I used for my 13th birthday party: it's a bit expensive but it's the big 13. haha not really.

party invite max would be about 14: if you live an hour or two from a big city take a bunch of friends out to the city for the day. walk around the downtown area, go shopping, then eat lunch at a fun restaurant. example; we went to San Fransisco. walked around downtown, attempted Lumbard Street with minivans, all bought $10 knock-off aviator sunglasses, went to the wax museum, and ate at the RainForest cafe. you end up with a bunch of memories, souvenirs and pictures in the end. (:

these are really childish. i want a normal theme that's sorta half way between a theme and not if you know what i mean. i don't want it to be all centered around 1 main theme but i don't want it to be just sitting around doing nothing. I"m 14b not 4

yea us teens don't really enjoy themes maybe some people do though, we like dances and music and food, or for another idea you could rent a limo for you and a bunch of friends and jsut ride around town having fun then go out to a buffet or somthing to eat then ride around in the limo some more. now that would be fun, hope i gave u some ideas

i think for 15 year olds and above, most teens like me want something teenage-ish. like camp-outs, or trips to london. and sometimes fancy dress house parties (like the tv program skins) or big picnics. but teenage girls always want photographic memory of it. so something that gives a good background for photos like a picnic work really well with vintage-y stuff... x

heres some advice for people that r going to have a party but some of ur friends r fighting so u r considering having two parties nd u dont know what to do. im in the same sitiation and i decided that i will invite all of my friends to 1 party! if 1 of ur friends that r fighting decide that they dont want to come then oh well i dont think u r entitled to go over the top to make ur guests comfortable so they dont have to c someone they dont like last year i had all of my friends come nd nothing dramatic happend even though the didnt like one of my friends hope this advice helps but every situation is differnt!

I need some help, I'm turning 14 in a week and a half and I want to do something fun but, I hangout with all different kinds of people preferably people who don't like each other at all. I like all of them and I don't want to choose between them but I don't want people getting mad at each other at my party cause they hate each other. Should I have to seperate small parties or 1 bigger party and if so what do you recommend. A great birthday party could be getting a large tent, or two to three small tents and sleeping outside. You could have a cookout and just chill in the tent. Play a couple of fun games, and this would be a pretty fun party.

Several of you have written asking for advice on party ideas for coed parties. Many of these parties, like the bonfire, Survivor game, luau and more will work for both boys and girls. As far as expenses go, many of these ideas will cost very little money. If food is your major expense, choose items like hotdogs, marshmallows, etc.-Susie

My 17th bday party i want to be awesome. So i searched the web for some ideas.. Besides having 4-wheelers. a fun thing teens like to do is run around. so we are doing the survivor games.. Scavenger hunt .. etc. also i have a trampoline. we loved that. Also other sports that teens like. Like basetball and football. We got water balloon and whipped cream and water guns... for a extreme water fight. Then when it gets dark, *Man Hunt* where we dress in dark clothes and run around a night trying to find the other ppl and (we had little squirt guns) *get them* . For people that aren't into all the big expensive doohickys that parties come with.. I also have friends in bands that could come play and a friend who is a DJ.. I planned this party myself, and I thought it was pretty sweet, and CHEAP.

We had a Birthday Party for our 13 year old son last year. We Called it Zaach's amazing race. We bught t-Shirts with a logo we designed our selfs and split the kids into 5 teams each team had their own color shirt(this was their favor to take home) We then set up club boxes all over the neighborhood and challenges at a few of the locations. The first team to get back to the house won gift cards. They are already wanting to do it again this year. It was a blast

i am having my 13th brithday with my best friend, and ours is themed "Allice in Wonderland" we will have a caractiture artist, a mime, and lots of games flamingo croquet is going to be one of our games for out guests (having 75+, they will all need to be entertained. I also bought fabric white roses and red markers. they have to paint the roses red in the time limit. We will also have tea cup relays where you put the tea cup on your head with water in it and ran to one end of the field and back. then we will have pin the smile on the cheshire cat a costume contest a cookie eating contest and a spinning game(much like the one with the baseball bat you had to spin around and run back.) I bought Alice in Wonderland The book to give as prizes and The movie to give to the winner of the costume contest. we are having a DJ and then we are making our own food. just an idea.

i think its a good idea to have a slumber party and if you have a wall that has no furniture near it you could get some cheap spot lights and a fan and do a fashion shoot or make a video of each other and show it to your class at school who knows you might even use the fan and the spot lights again!

Michaela Caudell- for an ocean themed birthday party, i would probably have a beach volleyball net set up for those sporty gals, a big barbeque with hot dogs, hamburgers, fruit punch, salad, ect. if u have a swimming pool, great, and if not, you can have them have a waterg un fight, my daughter and her had a blast with that, and have a sand castle building contest out of clay, thats holarious, and make sure you have lots of under the sea decor that will make it feel "fishy" have fun

I have an idea for a party! A talent show! Tell the guests to think of their best talent and present it to all the guests. Have the birthday boy/girl pick 3 judges. Have a first, second and third winner's prize, so if you win the talent show, you get a prize. Have CD's in case they want to dance or sing to a song.

Last year for my 13th birthday, i had a mall scavenger hunt. we made 4 teams, then went to the mall. We had a list of things to get in the mall. Each team got $25. Some things on the list u had to buy and some were free. The winning team got a prize. The things each team got were givin to everybody throughout the teams, or givin to me- the bday girl. Go over what everyone got, and decide the winne. Thn hand out their prize. afterwards we went back to the house and ate cake and opened presents. Then i had everyone sleepover. try the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's themes. teens love them. this is coming from a teen so i would know. we love to dress in the past, in the best fashion of every decade.

Aubrey, I love the boy-girl party idea...especially the bonfire and dance! Really, teens and preteens aren't the difficult to entertain. Throw in some food, music, and plenty of room to hang out, and they'll have a ball. Be sure you have a few extra parents on-hand for supervision, however. Teens and pre-teens sometimes want to push the envelope a little to see what they can get by with!--Susie

Well, if you want to go all out, and don't mind the boy-girl mix, have a party. Maybe a bonfire or a dance party. I gave my daughter a bonfire party, and had a dance floor off to the side, on the garage floor. (we set out tarp.) There was much adult supervision, but remeber- it is a teen party, and you all know how teens are. Get marshmallows, and some hotdogs, chips and some drinks. it was a blast and EVERYONE wanted to be there.

These are all great ideas! My son is a basketball fanatic. We've rented a local rec center and invited a bunch of his friends. Throw in a basketball decorated cake and a room full of basketballs and have a ball! You could also spring for a few tickets in the nosebleed section of a college or pro basketball game, as well. As far as the movies go, that depends upon the age of the child. Preteen girls might enjoy renting a few flicks and dressing up like their favorite stars, then having a photo shoot or modeling session in the living room!--Susie

Hey, these are all good ideas, but i would like them more in depth. What would you do for a basketball lover, or maybe the birthday child could be a movie star how would you plan those with lower costs.

For a teen party I have two great ideas! 1.) Rent a limo and invite six friends and go to a fondue place that's close to a nice mall. After fondue go to the mall to just hang and look around. Then back to your house for a sleepover. E-mail for more details! 2.) Have a mall scavenger hunt! E-mail for details!

If your teen is into music - try a dance or band party. Have them create their own music, hire a band or DJ, or simply play the stereo. Turn down the lights, hang up Christmas lights and create your own home "rave" party scene.
