So far, my kids aren't big on birthday parties. We use birthdays as a chance to give the kids some one-on-one time with a parent. Each birthday, the birthday girl gets to go out w/ mom or dad-- dinner, ice skating, movies, whatever she wants. Sometimes we go out of town for the weekend. Of course, we also do the birthday cake with the family thing, so she gets to blow out candles, too.
