Yahooligans Kids' Games are Safe
Yahoo operates a web portal under the name of Yahooligans, which includes an expansive series of Yahooligans kids' games. One of the unique aspects of Yahooligans is the site design, which is perfect for younger kids, up to age 12.
The fact that Yahooligans was created for the younger set is one of the reasons it has become so popular. Parents feel comfortable allowing their children to use the entire Yahooligans web portal, including the many free games offered, because everything that falls under Yahooligans is age-appropriate. Of course, all young children should be closely monitored when online, no matter how safe the site may seem.
Content is For Young Kids
One of the main reasons it is safe for kids to surf the Yahooligans web site and play Yahooligans kids' games is everything on the site has been tested and screened by people who work directly for Yahoo. The fact that Yahoo actually employee people to ensure that the Yahooligans web portal is free of any offensive content is a huge benefit. Most parents are aware of the problems with kids surfing online; basically, nobody can guarantee a child will only access “friendly” web pages and games when searching the Internet through other avenues.
Top 10 Games
Yahooligans posts its top ten most popular games accessed by kids on its main “game” page. A sampling of their current list is:
1) Chicken Little Misses the Bus – A game where the player must help Chicken Little catch the bus on time. The goal is to get Chicken Little to school on time.
2) Don’t Jump on the Couch – This game lets kids utilize the keyboard to make their character(s) jump and do other sorts of tricks on a couch. The goal is to not let “mom” see what is happening.
3) Pool – This game is similar to a real game of pool. The player uses a cue stick to shoot balls. There are several game versions, and the rules for each are similar to real pool.
4) JT’s Blocks – This is a puzzle game. The main goal of the game is to try and clear as many blocks off the playing board as possible. Points are earned by clearing blocks.
5) Ride the Wild Surf – In this game, the player uses the arrow keys on the keyboard to guide a surfer on his or her surfboard in the water. The object is to stay on the board and to avoid all sorts of obstacles.

Teachers and Yahooligans
Many teachers utilize Yahooligans kids' games in their classrooms to help facilitate the development of math, thinking skills, and discussions.
While the games available on Yahooligans are naturally entertaining, many of them do have an educational value, and can be successfully utilized in a classroom or home school environment. Yahooligans has a specific Teacher’s Guide which guides teachers to differentiate which games may be the most beneficial in challenging students in their classroom.
