Websites for Girls
From LoveToKnow Kids
Websites for girls run the gamut from online games to virtual pet sites, collectors' sites and fan clubs. If your girls are looking for some fun Internet websites to checkout, we've got a variety of suggestions.
Collector Websites for Girls
Does your girl love to collect items? Collecting is only half the fun! With so many options, like Barbies, Webkinz, Beanie Babies, and more, websites for girls offer the opportunity for girls to share their passion with others who feel the same! Many of these sites offer tips for collecting, forums to buy and trade with other collectors, information on the item, including values, and heads up on new items that may be available soon.
- Webkinz-Webkinz entered the world of girls in 2005, and while their cuddly, plush appearance makes them easy to love, they also involve girls in the virtual world. Each pet has its own "secret code" that allows owners to create a virtual version of the pet as well. Girls can take care of their stuffed animal, while at the same time love and care for their virtual pet. Collect numerous Webkinz for even more fun! Visit the Webkinz site for more info.
- Beanie Babies-Do you have a girl at home who is a Beanie Baby fanatic? If so, she'll want to visit this site. Your girl can find lists of current Beanies as well as those marked "retired". With parents' help, girls can buy and sell Beanies as well. For more fun, play some of the online games at the Fun-O-Rama link on the site. Here you can design your own "Color Me Beanie" and more!
- American Girl-With movies like Molly, An American Girl on the Home Front, Felicity, An American Girl Adventure, and of course, the extremely popular Kit Kittredge, An American Girl, girls are infatuated with the American Girl line of dolls. The site offers fun games, e-cards, and of course shopping opportunities to let you add to your collection of these adorable dolls.
- Bratz-These hip dolls made a quick rise to popularity and have stayed there as girls all over the world collect them. The Bratz website lets girls play online games and shop for the latest Bratz dolls to add to their collection.
- Barbie-Barbie has remained a classic favorite for several decades, and the Barbie website has lots of fun games and activities as well as information on the latest Barbies to hit the scene.
Other Sites for Girls
Computer savvy girls want websites for girls that pique their interest, provide fun, and offer chances to explore online. The following sites are perennial favorites. Most of these are appropriate for girls ages five through twelve.
- Baby-sitter's Club-This popular book series has a huge following of girls. Play online games, take quizzes and learn some great baby-sitting tips here.
- Go Girls Only-Sponsored by the Girl Scouts of America, this site has lots of fun games, quizzes, a girl talk section and celebration ideas as well.
- Disney Online–Kids of all ages love anything Disney related. The site is filled with lots of fun online games, including some educational ones to boot. The Disney Blast section can only be accessed through a paid subscription, however, but there are plenty of other activities to play for free.
- Being Girl-This site is more appropriate for older girls with info and advice on makeup, breakouts, and getting your period. Check out the links for "Fun Stuff" and "Ask Iris" as well.
Finally, not every site that you come across will be appropriate for your girl, so be sure you monitor her activity on the computer and help her find sites that are safe and fun to use.
