Unique Gift Children
From LoveToKnow Kids
Finding a unique gift for children involves more than just browsing through the newest toy selections of your local toy store.
Unique Gift: Children
Choosing a unique gift for children involves the following considerations:
- Age-This is probably the most important factor you should consider as you choose a gift for a child. If the gift you are giving is a toy, then be sure you pay attention to the manufacturer's age recommendations. If the toy is inappropriate for the child's age, you could inadvertently be setting him or her up for injury. However, if the gift you are giving isn't toy related, a gift that can be enjoyed by a child once he or she has matured, such as a savings bond, may be perfectly acceptable.
- Gender-While some gifts are fine for boys or girls, others are very gender specific, so keep this in mind as you shop.
- Interests-Many unique gifts are geared toward specific interests or hobbies. If the child you are buying for has a particular interest, such as coins or astronomy, finding a gift that relates to this interest is a great way to purchase a present that is unique.
- Needs-In some cases, a unique gift can also fill a specific need that a child might have. For example, an autistic child may have a special interest in art. If so, purchasing an artist kit or art supplies can be a wonderful way to inspire him or her.
- Future Goals-Maybe the child for whom you are buying has a particular goal in mind, such as building up her Beanie Baby collection or searching for that rare Pokemon card. If so, an item that would add to a collection or future dream is a great gift to buy!
Preschool and Elementary Gift Ideas
Young children are typically easy to please, but their attention spans can be a bit short. What might seem like a wonderful gift at the moment may soon find its way into the bottom of a closet never to be resurrected again. There are some unique gifts that remain popular among young kids, however, including the following:
- Magic Wall Panel-Encourage your kids to draw on the wall with this great product! This reversible magnetic dry-erase board is perfect for kids to play with. They can draw, write, or stick magnets all over it.
- Personalized Gifts-Personalized gifts can be anything from picture frames and shelves to books and teddy bears.
- Car Valet-Give your kids plenty to do with a car valet that can be stocked with books, art supplies, etc.
- Magazine subscriptions-Magazines subscriptions continue to give joy to kids all year. Check out popular magazines like Ladybug Magazine, Highlights for Children, and Nick Jr..
Preteens and Teens
Finding a unique gift for children often involves technology, particular if those children are preteens or teens. Cell phones, video games, CDs and DVDs are always popular gift ideas, but check out the following suggestions as well.
- Gift certificates-Preteens and teens often think they never have enough money to do the things they love to do. Why not give them a gift certificate to their favorite place? Some great gift certificate ideas include movie and video rentals, music downloads, fast food restaurants, popular clothing stores, and places to have fun, such as movie theaters, skating rinks, putt-putt courses, etc.
- Personalized gifts-For girls, a small overnight bag with her name embroidered on the outside or a personalized makeup bag is a great gift. For guys, how about a personalized golf bag or small cooler?
- Collectibles-Do you know a teen or preteen who collects a particular item, such as music boxes, coins, stamps, cards, etc.? If so, adding to his or her collection is a great gift idea!
Remember, as you hunt for that perfect gift, consider who will be the recipient. There are some great gifts out there just waiting to put a smile on a child's face!
