Kids Birthday Party Places
From LoveToKnow Kids
If your house is not suited for an at-home party, consider some of the below kids' birthday party places for hosting your child’s next birthday bash.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
If your child’s birthday falls during the warmer months, a local ball park might be the perfect location for a kid's birthday party. If your child is crazy about a particular team, try to get tickets to one of their games. Although most parks don’t allow you to bring outside food into the facility, there are usually lots of yummy treats to choose from at the park. You can pass out goody bags filled with things relating to the sport and team of choice.
Take in a Movie
Children of all ages love the movies. Check with local movie theatres to see if any of them offer kid's birthday party packages. Many of the large theatre complexes will allow you to rent an entire theatre for a large fee. The fee usually includes a space for eating cake and ice cream and opening presents. A more affordable option is to share the theatre with other movie-goers. Just be sure to arrive early enough so the party can sit together. Although you cannot bring outside food into a theatre, children will be happy with popcorn and soda in the place of birthday cake. You can also choose a theatre that is located inside a mall and serve cake in the food court of the mall after the movie.
Visit the Zoo
Zoos are wonderful kids' birthday party places. Most zoos offer party packages but you can plan one on your own easily. Create a scavenger hunt for the children to go on at the zoo. Give them directions like ‘find an animal that eats meat’ or ‘find a nocturnal animal’. The party members can work on the scavenger hunt together or they can break into two teams and race to find all the answers. Just make sure the children are always accompanied by an adult. Most zoos allow guests to bring their own food, so plan on bringing a cake or cupcakes and juice boxes for a picnic celebration.
Do your kids prefer sea creatures to land-based ones? Check to see if your local aquarium has party facilities. For example, the aquarium in Long Beach, California offers party rooms complete with "touch tanks" so the kids (and adults) can experience sea stars, sea cucumbers and anemones before they have cake.
How About a Makeover
Girls between the ages of 6 and 12 are especially fond of salon parties. Many beauty salons have party packages or you can approach a local salon and ask for a special rate. The girls who attend the party can get their hair fixed, their nails painted, and their faces made up. Younger children enjoy creative face painting in place of makeup. Ask the salon if they have a space where the girls can eat cake and open presents. If they do not have the space, look for a salon that’s in close proximity to a pizza parlor instead. Goody bags can include nail polish and hair accessories.
Make it a Workout
Check out local gymnastics centers and gyms to find interesting party packages. Many children’s gyms offer kids birthday parties that include organized exercises and games presented by an instructor. The packages usually include a space for serving food and opening presents. This is a great choice for channeling the energy of younger children.
Bounce, Climb, Crawl
You've surely seen the bounce houses that people rent for parties. But, did you know you can go to bouncy facilities? These offer a variety of bouncy entertainments such as houses, slides and other inflatable climbing and activity apparatus. Ride a zip line in a bouncy room and giggle when you slip off or hit the wall. Other kids' activity centers offer party packages where kids can climb, crawl through tubes, battle with inflatable or foam balls or pellets and jump on trampolines. Check your local yellow pages for these facilities.
A Walk in the Park
The park can be an excellent setting for a child’s birthday party in the warmer months. Check out the parks in your area to choose one that offers the best options. Look for a picnic area near swing sets and climbing equipment. An open space is great for playing group games like kickball or softball. Look for grilling facilities if you want to include a cookout. Parks are a wonderful choice if you are planning a large birthday party, including adults as well as children.
Kids' Birthday Party Places Summary
There are many options for hosting a kid's birthday party outside of the home. Make sure to include the exact address of the kids birthday party place with the phone number on the party invitation. Make it clear if parents are invited to stay at the party or if they will be expected to drop their child off and leave. If parents are needed to stay with their child, their entrance fees should be covered by the party host. The best thing about utilizing outside party locations is, at the end of the day, your house will look exactly how you left it in the morning!
