Fun and Learning

Between the ages of three and seven, dress up games for girls reach their peak in popularity. When most people think of dress up games, they instantly think of costumes that can be worn by little girls during a game of imaginative play. However, dress up games include much more than costumes. Dress up games for girls also include games that allow the child to dress a doll or a toy animal in a wide selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories.

Dress up Games for Girls

Dress up games for girls are one of the best ways to promote creativity and make-believe, and they also allow girls to begin role-playing and mimicking their mothers or other influential adults in their lives.

The Disney Princess Phase

Around the age of two or three, most girls enter a "princess" phase. The princess phase is a period of a young girl's life when anything and everything that is related to a princess is important to her. Princess dolls, princess decorations, princess stickers, and princess dress up costumes are all desired. It is not known whether this phase exists because of an innate or biological phenomenon or because of a really successful marketing campaign by Disney!

For the young girls who love princesses, there are many different princess dress up costumes available. The Disney Store sells them, but they're also widely available at large department stores, including Target and Wal-Mart. Some of the most popular costumes available are: Snow White, Cinderella, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty. However, there are also "generic" princess costumes for sale at department stores that tend to cost less than the Disney variety.

Colorforms Dress Up Games for Girls

After the princess costumes are put away, many young girls will enjoy hours of fun playing with Colorforms. Colorforms is a dress up game that is typically recommended for girls ages three to six.

When playing with Colorforms, children choose a character that they will eventually dress with clothing and accessories that they can stick to their character's body.

Playing with Colorforms is not only fun, it's also educational. It can assist young children in learning how to mix and match clothing and accessories, and it can enhance a young child's fine-motor skills since peeling the backing from the articles is necessary prior to placing them in the appropriate place on the character. Since more than one child can play this game at a time, it can be a game used to teach turn-taking, decision making, and using accessories to decorate a character.

My Little Pony Can Be Dressed Up!

Adults sometimes have a hard time figuring out why little girls get so much enjoyment out of playing with plastic ponies that have very unrealistic features and hair. However, part of the allure of the My Little Pony craze is that they come in pretty colors, they're fun-looking, they have cute names, and each one has its own personality.

My Little Pony is not exempt from the category of "dress up games for girls." In fact, there are currently thousands My Little Pony Butterfly Island Dress Up Packs sitting on shelves across the country, just waiting for girls to buy and play with them. This particular dress up pack allows girls to play games with the ponies while dressing them in their most stylish beachwear.

A single My Little Pony or a My Little Pony Dress Up Set is the perfect gift for just about any girl over the age of three. While there are many dress up games for girls available, this is one that is sure to be loved.
