Hi everyone. Just a friendly reminder to carefully check Halloween candy after trick or treating. If anything looks like it has been tampered with, I always throw it out. We usually will only go to houses of neighbors we know. In the past, if the girls haven’t gotten “enough” candy, it is almost always on sell for half off the day after Halloween anyway. I just tell them I’ll buy them some. This seems to appease them and get rid of the urge to run full steam ahead to every house they can spot.  Everyone be safe and have fun!

Thanks Lori.  My Mother-In-Law said she would bring the candy this year.  I found out yesterday that she decided to go healthy and get little bags with cookies and crackers.  Ok, I am all for healthy.  In fact, I don’t typically eat sweats, but this is Halloween.  You have to have candy.  I know not everyone agrees with that theory.  For the record, my husband and I ran out and got candy and we have already opened the bag.  grin Happy Halloween everyone.  Have fun with your kids!

I agree. When I was a kid, the lady that handed out the apples or raisins was never very popular. As you left you would tell the other kids, “Eww! She is giving out APPLES!” My mom would always eat them, but she’d cut them apart first to make sure a razor wasn’t hidden inside. I guess I got my paranoia from her LOL

We don’t celebrate Halloween. . .but we buy the candy!  wink My mom used to cut apart my candy to check to see if it was okay. I swear she ate all the halves. wink

As far as giving out apples, I saw once that someone had a sign on their door that said, “Ask me for sugar free treats.” Then they offered apples, raisins and the like. They also had candy. . .but it was because their child was diabetic. I thought it as a nice gesture.

I always buy candy that is prepacked so nobody has to worry that it has been tampered with. By the way, this year I bought candy that I don’t like (because it isn’t chocolate!) so hopefully I don’t eat all the leftovers myself.  red face
